Karen Oates (Principal)

Karen Oates has been dancing from childhood and teaching since 1986. Students have been nominated for IDTA scholarship awards, danced with English Youth Ballet and performed in professional productions at The Royal Concert Hall, The Nottingham Playhouse, and Derby Assembly Rooms.

July 05 to Jan 06, Miss Karen was on sabbatical leave with her husband and family in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, where she attended classes at The Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School taught by Tamar Rachelle and Janet Popeleski.

Fellowship of the IDTA was gained in 1993 in Modern Jazz, and has been followed by Ballet, Tap and Theatre Craft.

Miss Karen believes in the professional development of her teachers and herself and she coaches her staff to further their own teaching qualifications, and encourages them (and herself) to take professional dance classes in order to maintain their current dance knowledge and to improve their teaching techniques which ultimately benefit all her pupils.
